OFFENSE
HOMICIDE__________________________SUSPECT ANTHONY W. GRIFFIN
On
Monday, June 14, 1993, at approximately 2:00 PM, the Crittenden County
Sheriffs Department received a phone call from Sgt. Parr of the Clarksville,
TN, police department in reference to a homicide investigation we were
conducting.
Sgt.
Parr wanted to know if we had had a homicide about 2 weeks ago which occured in
the area of a place called PJs. I told
Parr that we were. Sgt. Parr said that
they had a suspect in custody involving some burglaries and forgeries which had
taken place around Clarksville. Parr
said that while one of his investigators was talking to his suspect, the
suspect said that he wanted to tell him about a killing that he had done in
Arkansas about 2 weeks ago.
I
asked Sgt. Parr to ask his suspect to answer some questions dealing with
details of the homicide that were not known to the general public. Sgt. Parr and his investigators asked the
suspect certain questions and their suspect answered those questions correctly.
I
advised Sgt. Parr that the suspect either had committed the homicide, been
present when it was committed, or had talked to someone who had extensive
knowledge of the crime.
Sgt.
Parr advised that they were going to charge this suspect with the forgeries and
burglaries. I advised Sgt. Parr that I
thought a trip to Clarksville to talk with the suspect would be worth while and
that I would see him on the morning of 06-15-93.
